The train is the most adventurous way to travel in Myanmar. Indawgyi Lake is not directly linked to the national railway system, but you can take a train to nearby Hopin from Myitkyina, or Mandalay. If you arrive in Hopin in the morning hours you can continue your travel with one of the few light trucks that leave from the station to Indawgyi’s tourism hub Lonton village for Ks 5,000 to Ks 7,000. You can also hire a private motorbike for the one-hour journey that should not cost you more than Ks 15,000.
