Friends of Wildlife (FoW)
FoW is a national NGO that aims to achieve its mission through livelihood diversification, environmental education, community participation, biodiversity research, and conservation. FoW provides support for sustainable fisheries, community forestry, and alternative livelihoods in Indawgyi.
Green Land
Green Land အဖွဲ့သည် အင်းတော်ကြီးဒေသအတွင်းရှိဝင်ငွေနည်းပါးသော အိမ်ထောင်စုများဖြင့် ဖွဲ့စည်းထားပြီး ၄င်းတို့၏ဝင်ငွေတိုးတက်လာစေရန် အိမ်တွင်းစိုက်ခင်း၊ သီးနှံသစ်တောရောနှောစိုက်ခင်းနှင့် သစ်မဟုတ်သောအခြားသစ်တောထွက်ပစ္စည်းများကို တန်ဖိုးမြှင့်ထုတ်ကုန်များအဖြစ်ထုတ်လုပ်နေသော ဒေသခံအဖွဲ့အစည်းဖြစ်သည်။
Indawgyi Natural Farming Association (INFA)
INFA’s vision is to promote organic farming practices throughout the Indawgyi Lake Basin to improve local livelihoods while protecting the environment. Especially knowledge exchange between farmers, and regular trainings are essential tools. INFA aims to enlarge its membership to eventually reach all farmers in the lake basin and improve value chains for organic rice and other organic products.
Indawgyi Nature Conservation and Development Association (IECDA)
INCDA supports and promotes community forestry in the buffer zones of the Indawgyi Biosphere Reserve. Since 2012, more than ten forest user groups from different villages are engaged in the community forestry programme to protect and restore Indawgyi’s forests, while providing a sustainable supply of timber, firewood, and agroforestry products.
Inn Chit Thu Social Development and Ecotourism Group (ICT)
Inn Chit Thu is the longest-established local ecotourism organisation in Indawgyi which was founded in 2013. Operating from the Indawgyi Wetland Education Centre this non-for-profit organisation provides a wide range of eco-tourism services, such as cycling, kayaking, trekking, and birdwatching. The organisation also facilitates waste clean-ups in Lonton and support the household sanitation programme.
Myit Tar Lay Nyin (MTLN)
Myit Tar Lay Nyin is a national NGO that addresses drug use related problems in Indawgyi and provides comprehensive services for drug users, such as methadone maintenance therapies, disease testing, or prevention campaigns. They aim to prevent the usage of drugs while improving the health of those in need through education and mental support.
Parami (PRM)
Parami, the Buddhist funeral association of Nanmun village, extended its mission by providing community-based waste management services for Indawgyi’s largest village. The group also engages local people around the lake in waste and environmental awareness campaigns.
Ton San Kha CBT
The organic group of the small village Ton San Hka was founded in 2016 and serves freshly cooked organic lunch to national and international guests, providing visitors with a real experience in one of Indawgyi’s most scenic village. The group exclusively uses organic ingredients from the surrounding fields.
